SLATE-Z serves as the backbone entity for the South Los Angeles Promise Zone, where we work to achieve a socially inclusive, sustainable, resilient, and thriving community.

The South Los Angeles Promise Zone is home to over 200,000 residents in a five-mile area that sits at the heart of South Los Angeles.

As a place-based initiative, the SLATE-Z catchment area follows three major public transit lines (A-Line, E-Line, and K-Line) and encompasses the neighborhoods of Vernon-Central, South Park, Florence, Exposition Park, Vermont Square, Leimert Park, and Baldwin Hills Crenshaw.

Since its inception, the South Los Angeles Promise Zone has historically been represented by key legislatures including former Congressmember Lucille Roybal-Allard and former Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.

The South LA Promise Zone is currently represented by two U.S. Congressmembers, two CA Senators, three CA Assemblymembers, two LA County Supervisors, and five LA Councilmembers.
